Matthew Xavier Corrigan

Album Photography

About

I was delighted to collaborate with Cork-based musician (and dear friend) Matthew Xavier Corrigan on the photography for his debut album. Shot along the coastline at Myrtleville, Cork, the project explored the relationship between artist, landscape and sea, drawing on the imagery and themes of the ocean that run throughout Matt’s songs and lyrics.

Photographed during a storm, the shoot combined candid moments with more considered portraits, captured across three cameras — two analogue and one digital — to explore different textures and visual treatments. I deliberately incorporated expired film to embrace the unpredictability of analogue photography, allowing natural grain, light leaks and other imperfections to become part of the images’ character.

The resulting photographs aimed to capture the rawness and atmosphere of the Irish coastline while reflecting the emotional depth and elemental quality of Matt’s music. I selected and edited the final images for use across his album materials and promotional platforms, creating a visual collection rooted in the landscape that inspired the work.
