Andy is heartbroken when his girlfriend of nearly ten years ends their relationship. Hoping to lift his spirits, his best friend Mandy offers him a go on her bike, only to discover that he never learned to ride. Seeing an opportunity to help him get back on his feet, Mandy bets she can teach him to cycle in less than a week.

As Easy as Riding a Bike began as a college project and developed into my first short film, becoming a defining experience in my journey as a filmmaker. From the initial screenplay through production and post-production, the project gave me the opportunity to bring an original story to life with an incredibly talented cast and crew. Its subsequent selection for several film festivals made it an especially rewarding first step into the wider film community.

Taking on multiple roles across the production, I wrote, directed, produced, edited and appeared in the film. I coordinated the cast and crew, managed equipment requirements, storyboarded scenes and developed the production schedule to keep the shoot organised and on track. I also secured the rights to incorporate music by Joan Jett and The Sultans of Ping F.C., helping establish the film’s tone and energy.

The project strengthened my skills across the filmmaking process, from story development and visual planning to directing performances, production management and post-production. It also provided valuable experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, reinforcing my passion for collaborative, hands-on filmmaking.
